Mark chosen to judge F Word final
Mark Baumann, proprietor of Baumann’s Brasserie, has once again stepped into the celebrity arena after being asked to join the judges for the final of Britain’s Best Local Restaurant on Gordon Ramsay’s the F word.
Mark, a Masterchef of Great Britain, made up a select group of diners that Gordon Ramsay described as the hardest critics that the F word has ever had to please.
Thrilled to have been invited to become a judge, Mark said: “To be involved on this most special and important of evenings was a fantastic experience. We were served some wonderful food and observed while Gordon led the teams in the kitchen opposite.
“Gordon’s famous management skills, along with the immense talent of the finalists promise to make the programme a great end to the series.”
The new series, currently being shown on Tuesdays at 9pm, celebrates the very best of Britain’s independent local restaurants with the help of nominations from thousands of restaurant goers across the country.
Eighteen restaurants in nine different categories (Italian, Indian, French, Chinese, Spanish, Thai, The Americas, British, Rest of the World) have made it into the series. Each week, the top two will face the challenge of cooking with Gordon in the F Word restaurant for 50 paying diners.
Gordon Ramsay added: "For me this will be the most important series, because we're looking for Britain's Best Local Restaurant. It's about discovering talent that we, as a nation, didn't quite realise we had.”
So did the judges of the final, which will be aired later this year, feel the food was worth paying for? “We are obviously sworn to secrecy as to the outcome of the competition but all will be revealed when the programme final is aired in January so you’ll have to keep watching,” said Mark.
This is the latest TV appearance for Mark who has already starred in his own ITV series ‘Baumann Goes to Market’. He is also a guest presenter on Good Food's flagship programme Great Food Live and has featured most recently in The Hairy Bikers’ Food Tour of Britain and with Chef Rachel Allen on her home cooking programme.
